PhD in Information

The PhD in Information reflects the centrality of information, access to information, and tools we use to share, communicate, and make decisions based on best information. Our program aims to provide research-focused doctoral education to qualified, motivated information professionals and researchers, with an emphasis on research paradigms and methods in the field of information.

Program Experience

In the PhD in Information, candidates move from initial courses through comprehensive exams to thesis research, defence, and submission.听 It is designed to be completed within four years on a full-time basis or up to eight years on a part-time basis.

贰濒颈驳颈产颈濒颈迟测:听Applicants typically hold a Master鈥檚, with a thesis, or its equivalent, from a recognized university with a minimum GPA of 3.0/4.3 (B average) on 30 credit hours from a master's degree, and 30 credit hours from the most recent bachelor's degree.

Step #1:

  • Complete the听听and pay the听application fee ($115.00).
  • Identify a potential supervisor from the Department of Information Sciencewho will support your application to the program. You will need to discuss your proposed research with them and ensure that they are willing to supervise your research.

Step #2:Prepare your听 [PDF - 269 KB].

  • To complete the form, you will need to concisely describe your potential research interests / intended area of focus, research capacity,听alignment with the Faculty of Management programs or proposed supervisor鈥檚 interests, what you hope to do with the PhD, and any other information that might be helpful for the review committee to know.听听Once you have completed your form, discuss it with your proposed supervisor (s) and have them sign the form, indicating that they have reviewed the document, and are willing to be a supervisor. You will also need to sign the form. Upload your signed form as part of your application materials.听Your application will not be considered complete without this form.

Step #3:Submit your supporting documents (must be submitted through the ).

  • The names and email addresses of two academic referees. For more information about references please visit the听FGS website.听
  • Unofficial transcripts (Undergrad & Master鈥檚). If accepted, official transcripts must be sent directly to 黄色直播 from these universities within 90 days using an e-transfer system (e.g听). You can also organise to have the universities send your official transcripts to 黄色直播 as part of this application.   • Curriculum Vitae
  • Research and Personal Statement (upload under supplementary documents), signed by you and your proposed supervisor.
  • English proficiency documentation (as per听FGS regulations), if required

Notes:听Our admissions committee will start reviewing applications in January. Applications will also be considered for a limited number of internal funding opportunities as the files are reviewed.
