Spartans alone at the top in women鈥檚 volleyball

OTTAWA (CIS) 鈥� The Trinity Western University Spartans are the new team to beat in CIS women鈥檚 volleyball. A week after tying the UBC Okanagan Heat for No. 1, the Spartans edged their provincial rivals by a single point in the new national coaches鈥� poll.
In other CIS sports, Saskatchewan (women鈥檚 basketball / men鈥檚 hockey), Ryerson (men鈥檚 basketball), Guelph (women鈥檚 hockey), Toronto (women鈥檚 & men鈥檚 swimming / women鈥檚 track and field), Windsor (men鈥檚 track and field), McMaster (men鈥檚 volleyball) and Brock (women鈥檚 & men鈥檚 wrestling) all hold on to their pole position.
In women鈥檚 volleyball, Trinity Western and UBC Okanagan are tied atop the Canada West standings with sparkling 17-1 records with six games remaining in conference play. The Heat drop to second place in this week鈥檚 national rankings with 57.5 points despite a two-game sweep of No. 6 UBC this past weekend. The Spartans, who enjoyed a break in their league schedule, earned 58.5 points in the new poll.
The two teams get to settle it on the court this weekend as UBCO visits TWU for a doubleheader on Friday (6 p.m. PST) and Saturday (5 p.m. PST). Both contests are live on .
