In your first year, you'll build strong foundation that prepares you toÌýspecialize in audiology. Our audiologyÌýprogram also includes intensive practicum experiences during the summer of the second year, and the winter of the third year. Placements during these periods are usually outside of the Halifax area.ÌýYouÌýmust complete either a research project or a master's thesis as part of theÌýprogram.Ìý

Graduates work in a range of settings, including hospitals, clinics, schools, and private practice, with opportunities to even run your own clinic.
As an audiologist, you’ll be a skilled hearing healthcare specialist working with patients of all ages, from infants to older adults. You’ll learn to assess and diagnose hearing and balance conditions, recommend and fit assistive technologies, provide rehabilitation services, and support patients in improving their communication and overall quality of life.
Program options
Course-based: Complete academic courses, a research project, and multiple practicum placements to gain real world experience. Ìý
Thesis: In addition to the program completed by non-thesis students, you will complete a MSc thesis in an area of your interest, supervised by one of our faculty members.
Clinical experience
Both program options combine coursework with hands-on clinical practica, including intensive placements in the summer of Year 2 and winter of Year 3—often outside Halifax.
If you choose the thesis option, you’ll complete a faculty-supervised master’s thesis. In the non-thesis option, you’ll complete a research project.
All graduate programs at »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ are collaboratively delivered by a home Faculty and theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies.
Admission requirements
You'll need to meet theÌýFaculty of Graduate Studies minimum requirementsÌýas well as any program-specific admission requirements before you can apply.
For aÌýSeptember (Fall) start, applications openÌýSeptember 15Ìýand closeÌýJanuary 15.
Program-specific requirements
This program requires you to meet the following criteria:
Four-year bachelor’s degree from a university of recognized standing. No specific prerequisite courses areÌýrequired, but applicants often have background in areas such as human biology/physiology, psychology/neuroscience, and linguistics.Ìý
MinimumÌýGPA of 3.3/4.3 in the last 60 credit hours; admission isÌýcompetitiveÌýand recent successful applicants typically exceed the minimum.
Note:ÌýClinical placements may require a criminal record check/screening and up-to-date immunizations; requirements vary by site.
