In this program, you will learn about the challenges of supporting a growing population while protecting the environment. You will combine scientific research with knowledge of environmental laws, economics, and history to better understand these issues. Whether you study Environmental Science on its own or combine it with another subject, you will graduate with the skills and knowledge needed to create practical solutions for a more sustainable future.

What you will learn

You will start the program by learning the fundamentals of environmental science and explore topics including current environmental challenges, the ecosphere, resources and sustainability. You’ll get outside the classroom and gain hands-on experience conducting field studies in nearby forests, marshes, rivers, and city parks.

As a Science Co-op student, you’ll undertake three work terms interspersed with your academic study terms. Science Co-op degree programs allow you to apply your growing knowledge directly while providing paid career-related experience helping to offset academic costs while arming you with the information you need to make educated career choices.

The (DISP) is a unique, immersive first-year option for motivated students looking to complete their first year of a science degree. You’ll work effectively in teams, explore connections across scientific disciplines, and complete a hands-on research project while building critical skills in data analysis, tech, and scientific communication.

»ÆÉ«Ö±²¥â€™s Environmental Science program encourages you to explore the environment from scientific perspectives; as well as the political, cultural, ethical, and historical angles. You can make it your main focus of study or combine it with other programs.

Admission requirements

Minimum admission requirements

To be considered for admission to this program, you must meet minimum academic criteria:

  1. Completion of secondary school (Grade 12)
  2. Achievement of the minimum average for your program of choice.
  3. Completion of Grade 12 English (or equivalent course).

Admission to many »ÆÉ«Ö±²¥ programs is competitive. This means that meeting minimum requirements does not guarantee admission.

Program-specific admission requirements

To enter the Bachelor of Science program in your first year, you must meet the following high school course requirements:Ìý

  • ÌýMinimum overall average: 75%
  • Academic English 12
  • Pre-calculus Math 12Ìý
  • Three additional academic subjects

Note: All Bachelor of Science students enter the Faculty of Science as undeclared majors. This gives you the freedom to explore your scientific interests during your first year. Ìý

You will officially declare your Environmental Science major, minor, or specialized options at the end of your first year using your first-year science and math prerequisites.


To enter the Bachelor of Arts program in your first year, you must meet the following high school course requirements: Ìý

  • Minimum overall average: 70%
  • Academic English 12
  • Four additional academic subjects
