Student Research Short and Snappies

  • Describe at least three research findings related to pharmacy practice, clinical pharmacy, or pharmaceutical sciences.

  • Evaluate the relevance of student research to pharmacy practice settings in the MaritimesÌý
Afternoon Workshops

AI in Pharmacy PracticeÌýPresented by Daniel Rainkie

By the end of this session, participants will be able to;
  • Describe how large language models work at a fundamental level
  • Compare and contrast how pharmacists can use AI to gather knowledge, make decisions, and implement patient care using case examples
  • Describe what ethical considerations or dangers AI users should think about

Complex Cases in Primary CareÌýPresented by Kyle Wilby and Emily Black

By the end of this session, participants will be able to;
  • Recognize and assist patients in navigating health issues
  • Collect and critically evaluate patient-specific information (e.g., medical history, medications, allergies, lab values, diagnostic tests)
  • Recognize indicators of disease progression or complications (red flags)
  • Design an individualized strategy for management, including drug selection, dosing, administration route, and duration (if appropriate)
  • Integrate non-pharmacologic and preventive strategies into the overall management plan
  • Develop a monitoring plan to evaluate efficacy and safety of the individualized care plan
