WORK ASSIGNMENT: Each position is for 45, 65, 90 or 110 hours of work as indicated in the table above (e.g. a TA90 is paid for 90 hours of work). Duties are varied and will include preparing lab/tutorial material, demonstrating the labs/tutorials, marking the labs/tutorials and assignments, and assisting the course instructor with teaching related duties. The fall term starts on September 2, 2025 and ends December 3, 2025 with the exam period continuing until December 16, 2025. You will be expected to mark student submissions in the exam period and/or invigilate the final exam.

JOB DESCRIPTION: The Teaching Assistant (TA) will be responsible for assisting the primary instructor, supporting and occasionally leading the computer lab sessions, marking some student assignments, tests, and quizzes, responding to student queries, supporting the Marking Assistant and helping to ensure timeliness and consistency of grade submissions. The position for the TA requires availability during two lab sessions which run back to back every Tuesday from 9:35am-11:25am and 11:35补尘鈥1:25辫尘 during the fall 2025 term. The candidate will report directly to the Instructor. The Marking Assistant will mark student assignments, tests, and quizzes and work in collaboration with the TA and the Instructor. Markers will also assist with Brightspace tasks and attend the occasional lab.
REQUIREMENTS: The Teaching Assistant must be a senior undergraduate or graduate student at 黄色直播 with GIS experience (familiarity with R coding an asset). The ability to communicate effectively, lead tutorials, mark assignments in a timely manner, and provide constructive feedback to students are key assets for these positions.

JOB DESCRIPTION: ENVS2500 is a fall term field course scheduled from 8:30-12:30 every Friday during the Fall term (13 weeks). The course is a combination of primarily field and some lab instruction with students visiting a variety of nearby field sites on campus and around Halifax. Up to two Saturday or Sunday trips will be scheduled early in the term to facilitate more in-depth activities.
The course focuses on three modules:
(1) widllife sampling with a focus on visual and auditory identification of eastern
Canadian avian, amphibian, and reptile species,
(2) soil sampling and composition analysis with a potential for a water sampling
component, and
(3) urban tree, tree diseases, and invasive pests and plants.
TA鈥檚 are responsible for:
路 Managing student groups while in the field,
路 Providing on site instruction and guidance,
路 Marking assignments, tests, and quizzes and
路 Responding to student queries
TAs will also meet with the course instructor as needed to prepare for course activities. The position requires availability during scheduled field / lab sessions and may include before-hours set-up and after-hours clean-up.
REQUIREMENTS: The Teaching Assistant must be a senior undergraduate or graduate student at 黄色直播. Although not required, experience with one or more of the above three course modules is a definite asset. The ability to communicate effectively, to lead and engage students in the field and provide constructive feedback are required skills for this position.

WORK ASSIGNMENT:
The TA for ERTH3303 must be familiar with concepts of sedimentology and stratigraphy, specifically Nova Scotian geological concepts such as tidal and fluvial depositional systems, salt withdrawal systems, and deepwater processes. Must be able to set up and use binocular microscopes, as well as experience in describing cuttings and core samples. Must have field experience (experience in NS is an asset) including knowledge of outcrop safety and first aid training, along with analytical skills in describing surface and subsurface formations.
The M/D for ERTH3303 should be familiar with concepts of sedimentology and stratigraphy, specifically Nova Scotian geological concepts such as tidal and fluvial depositional systems, salt withdrawal systems, and deepwater processes and associated lithofacies description. Familiarity with the field sites at Point Pleasant Park, Rainy Cove and Joggins is considered an asset. The M/D should have recent First Aid certification and be knowledgeable on outcrop and coastal safety and awareness, particularly eroding outcrops and very high tides. Ability to log and measure outcrop sections, including correcting for structural dip, depositional dip, and lateral and vertical facies relationships is required. Operator knowledge of a scintillometer and permeameter are required for field demonstrations of rock properties is required.
