Experiential learning/internship courses
Currently, any student at the Faculty of Agriculture can participate in one of four credit-based, experiential learning/internship courses:
- INTA 2000
- INTA 2001
- INTA 3001
- INTA 4001.
These elective courses can count toward your degree and provide you with a learning opportunity to apply your classroom knowledge.听

What's the difference between and internship and a co-op?
Learn about the differences between internship and co-ops, and what opportunities are available for Agriculture students.
Time frame
Internships usually lasts for 12 weeks, and can occur any time after 1 year of study
Co-ops must do 3 placements interspersed with academic learning
Financial costs and benefits
Internships pay tuition for one course, and are compensated for the work term.
Co-ops pay program fees and usually compensated for the work terms
Course credit
Internships receive elective credit toward the degree.
Co-ops don't receive a course credit, receive Co-operative Education designation on parchment
Workload
Internships have written assignments and a presentation at the end of the internship.
Co-ops have written assignments.
Who can participate
Internship: Any student who has completed their first year of study with a 2.8 G.P.A. or higher.
Co-op: Must be enrolled in the co-op stream (not available at the Faculty of Agriculture).

Benefits
The benefits of experiential learning and WIL for industry/employers include:
Students bring new ideas, fresh perspectives, and enthusiasm to the workplace.
WIL programs offer access to diversely talented and highly motivated students and sometimes aid in vetting students before the hiring process begins, which reduces recruiting costs.
WIL students are short-term employees, which can be helpful to businesses in temporary times of need.听
WIL students can work on a wide range of assignments, from specific projects to general support.

Hiring and recruitment
- We can pre-post any positions you might have and get the word out to our student population.听 We can set you up with an interview room during the fair (or anytime during the year) and you can interview potential candidates on the spot.
- Host one of our internship students for a 12-week (or more) internship.听 Students must be compensated in some way; there are funding sources available. Specific learning outcomes are developed to ensure that both the student and your enterprise benefit from the experience.
Engagement events and opportunities
Join us for the AggieWIL fair, post a position, recruit on campus, set up a guest lecture opportunity, and more! The fair takes place in early February each year, and will give you an opportunity to engage with students in the following programs:
