Research labs, groups, and facilities
Both research and teaching take place using state-of-the-art facilities and hands-on learning opportunities found in the campus farm complex.
We are expanding the boundaries of fisheries research. Aquaculture provides students and researchers with over 8100 ft2 of well-equipped teaching laboratories and aquatic rearing facilities. Reliable freshwater and seawater sources, along with modern mechanical systems, allow for precise environmental control, enabling work with a wide variety of species - from cold water marine fish and shellfish to tropical freshwater fish
Aquaculture houses a teaching lab, a dry lab, two wet labs and an algal production lab.
In addition to the modern and extensive laboratories, the Faculty of Agriculture has a number of research facilities unique to the Atlantic region, including:聽聽
- A 250-hectare farm
- Extensive pasture聽
- Field and turfgrass facilities聽
- Greenhouses, an experimental orchard聽
- Several of outlying research facilities and lab
- The largest repository of agricultural resource material in Atlantic Canada housed in the Faculty of Agriculture library.
